A few months ago, I wrote about my struggle to find small nightstands for our guest bedroom. I found several really great options, but unfortunately they were all a bit too wide. Ultimately, Brian ended up making a set of matching nightstands that are each only 11 inches wide. While this was a great solution, the small nightstands are too small for traditional tabletop lamps.
Instead, we are planning to purchase some plug-in wall-mount sconces to free up the top of the nightstands. We thought about having them wired into the wall, but it would cost several hundred dollars for an electrician and plaster repair. Plus, if the sconces are wired into the wall, it limits your ability to reposition furniture in the room in the future. You are basically stuck with the bed on that wall in that exact spot forever.
After researching seemingly endless options, I have compiled my favorite affordable plug-in wall sconces. All of the sconces below are under $100 and many come in multiple finishes.
1. Osias 1-Light Plug-in Armed Sconce from Wayfair
I really like this modern industrial sconce. It would add interest and color to any bedroom. It would look especially nice with the black metal beds that are so popular right now. This sconce also comes in grey.
2. Kadin 1-Light Spotlight from Wayfair
This black and gold articulating sconce is so classy. This sconce would really make a statement in a guestroom while still providing an adjustable light source. I also found a very similar (if not identical) light on Amazon for even less.
3. Kenroy Home Sheppard Wall Swing Arm Lamp from Amazon
I like this sconce because it is fairly neutral and would go with just about any decor. I also think the swing arm is very functional. It is also available in oil-rubbed bronze. I did notice that there are a few bad reviews on Amazon about this product that suggest it is not well made.
4. Kira Home Cambridge 13″ Swing Arm Wall Lamp from Amazon
This sconce is similar to the one listed above, but it has much better reviews. It also has the functional swing arm and comes in oil-rubbed bronze. If you need two sconces for either side of the bed, it also comes in a two-pack for even more savings.
5. Wilcox Globe 17″ High Pin-Up Wall Sconce from Lamps Plus
This wall sconce would be perfect for a more glamorous room. The clear crystal globes add tons of style and interest.
6. Lutterworth Wall 1-Light Plug-in Armed Sconce from Wayfair
This vintage-inspired sconce is so much fun. I think it would look super cute in our 100-year-old home. The arm is adjustable and the green shade adds character and color. Plus, according to the reviews it is very easy to install.
7. Rivet Mid-Century Modern Starburst Wall Sconce Lamp from Amazon
This mid-century-inspired wall sconce is a piece of art. Not only is it beautiful, it also has two bulbs so it would provide a lot of light. This sconce also comes in a chrome finish if gold isn’t to your taste. World Market has a similar option.
8. Joanna Metal Sconce from Urban Outfitters
I love the rustic vintage feel of this light punched metal light. The burnished brass finish is charming and this light would look so cute in a child’s bedroom.
If you are able to spend a bit more, I recommend taking a look at Pottery Barn and West Elm. They have some really nice options but they are generally over $100 each.
