Since purchasing our new home in North-Eastern Ohio, I have spent a lot of time researching furniture outlet stores. It turns out that our current very modern furniture doesn’t work well in the 100-year-old home we just purchased. I have learned that North Carolina is the place to go for furniture outlet stores. In areas such as High Point and Hickory there are a number for furniture makers, factories, and outlet stores.
Brian and I are planning a trip to North Carolina in July. Considered the ‘Furnishings Capital of the World,’ you can find more information on the North Carolina Tourism Site or in this USA Today article. It includes the largest furniture store in the world, Furnitureland South, as well as a number of American-made brands such as Broyhill and Henredon. I am most excited about the Bernhardt Furniture Outlet and will be sure to write a review following my visit. [Update: You can read out our trip to Hickory and High Point, North Carolina here.] You don’t have to go to North Carolina to find furniture outlets, though. There are a number of others available across the country:

Arhaus Loft
Although this is a traditional outlet store, you won’t find it in an outlet mall. There are two locations which are both in Ohio; one outside of Columbus (3791 Park Mill Run Dr, Hilliard, OH 43026) and one outside of Cleveland (7440 Brookpark Rd, Cleveland, OH 44129). The stores vary greatly in what they have in stock and carry primarily floor models and returns.
We purchased the Eaton bench and corner piece for about $400 each for the morning room. Online they retail for $1,200 each on sale ($1,700 each regular price). We also purchased the 53″ Luca dining table for just under $600. Online, the 54” Luca Dining table is listed at $3,300 (but it seems to always be on sale for about $2,200). We did have to do some work on this table. You can read about that project here.
They tend to carry a large selection of dining tables, couches, ottomans, etc. They also usually offer an additional percentage off of marked prices, but this varies greatly from one week to the next. It is certainly worth checking out if you are in the market for new furniture. You can find out more (including hours) on the Columbus and Cleveland Facebook pages.
Frontgate/Ballard Designs/Grandin Road Outlets

The Frontgate Outlet store outside of Cincinnati, OH actually includes three brands: Frontgate, Grandin Road, and Ballard Designs. There seem to be four Frontgate Outlet Stores, but the one nearest to me is in West Chester just north of Cincinnati (8939 Union Centre Boulevard, West Chester, OH, 45069). This store is massive and includes indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting, and accessories. I find that the prices at these outlets are still quite high, but we have purchased a few items including a magnetic world map and our current coffee table.
They also carry a pet line which includes Baxter’s favorite dog bed. It is normally $119 on sale but we were able to purchase it for $60. A list of their three other outlet stores can be found on the Frontgate website. As far as Ballard Designs, the website lists two other outlet locations in Margate, FL and Roswell, GA. The Grandin Road website lists one additional outlet location- also in Roswell, GA.
Crate & Barrel Outlet Stores
We were able to visit the Crate & Barrel Outlet Store in Naperville, Illinois. I wasn’t impressed with the prices as they were barely discounted from the regular store prices. The selection was also disappointing. I’m not sure if this is always the case and plan to give it another chance. The Crate & Barrel website has a list of about eight outlets across the country.
Pottery Barn Outlet
Pottery Barn has approximately 15 outlet stores across the country. The one nearest to me is located in the Outlet Mall in Jeffersonville, OH (8100 Factory Shops Blvd, Spaces 100 & 110, Jeffersonville, OH, 43128). The space is very large and carries limited furniture and has a larger amount of its space dedicated to accessories, decor, bedding, etc. A list of the locations can be found on the Pottery Barn Website.
Restoration Hardware Outlet
This furniture outlet store is also not generally found in a traditional outlet mall. The Restoration Hardware website used to list approximately 40 outlets across the country, but I can no longer find that information on their website. The location I have visited is in Ohio near Dayton (985 South Main Street, Centerville, OH, 45459). This is a fairly traditional furniture outlet store that includes returns and damaged items but you can find some really good deals. Stock varies greatly, but we plan to return in the near future. You may want to visit their website to see if you can find additional information about store locations.
West Elm Outlet
We used to have a West Elm Outlet near us in the Outlet Mall in Jeffersonville, OH, but we recently found out that it is no longer open. We were were able to visit it a few times and found that we were generally disappointed. The store wasn’t large and most items were damaged (as opposed to having overstocks and returns). There seem to be several other outlet locations listed on the West Elm website, so it might be worth stopping by one near you.
What other furniture outlet stores have you visited? Has anyone made the trip to High Point to visit the North Carolina furniture outlets?

Howdy would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with?
I’m planning too start my own blog soon but I’m having

Hi! I use WordPress and the Astra Pro theme. I originally planed to use Wix, but it did not work with Google Adsense. I chose the WordPress theme that allowed me to get a look that was similar to the page I initially designed on Wix. I hope that is helpful. Best of luck with your blog!
